Tips, Tricks and Recommendations for Using Your eBookwise 1150.
- Save Money - I paid $60 for a 128MB SmartMedia memory card from my local big box electronics store because I was impatient and did not do my homework. Shop around. Amazon had SmartMedia cards of the same size for only $30! Always make sure machine is off when changing card.
- Use Card Memory or System Memory - this is either or it seems. Books you have in system memory will seem to disappear after you insert a flash memory card. They are still there it is just that in order to keep the OS simple the 1150 uses one or the other. The downside is that the user manual disappears when you start to use the memory card. However the 1150 is simple enough to operate that you probably will not need the manual. It is easiest to just buy a card and leave it in all the time. It should hold over 100 books.
- Reads .rb Rocket Reader Format - This is a huge plus since you can get public domain books for free in Rocket format from sites like Blackmask and upload them to your 1150. I tried this and they display just fine. :) This also will allow you to upload Mutiformat books in Rocket format from places like Fictionwise to your 1150.
- The source for free books in .txt format is Project Gutenburg. I have not yet tried uploading .txt etexts yet but I will let you know how it goes whan I do.
